Conference Theme:
MANAGING CHANGE IN ELT

Within an endlessly changing world, one of the many responsibilities of managers in ELT is to be sensitive to the global and local environment of the work situation. From this sensitivity, necessary change can be identified and a program of action can be initiated and developed.

For change to be successful, it is critical to assess - as accurately as possible - the different ways in which change will affect the work situation and the teachers themselves. Throughout the process of the implementation of change, it will be incumbent upon management to monitor effectiveness, provide support, and make informed adjustments when necessary.

ELT administrators and teachers need to adapt to change and to explore new approaches and ideas to handle it successfully.

The vision began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister. Further information can be found at www.adu.ac.ae.

IATEFL is the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language. Founded in the UK in 1967, it now has over 3,500 members in 100 different countries throughout the world. Further details can be found at www.iatefl.org.
