OBJECTIVES:
Within an endlessly changing world, one of the many
responsibilities of managers in ELT is to be sensitive to the
global and local environment of the work situation. From this
sensitivity, necessary change can be identified and a program of
action can be initiated and developed.
For change to be successful, it is critical to assess - as
accurately as possible - the different ways in which change will
affect the work situation and the teachers themselves.
Throughout the process of the implementation of change, it will
be incumbent upon management to monitor effectiveness, provide
support, and make informed adjustments when necessary. ELT
administrators and teachers need to adapt to change and to
explore new approaches and ideas to handle it successfully. The
objectives of the conference are to provide a forum for ELT
managers and teachers to share their ideas, experience, research
and innovations in coping with change.

The vision
began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the
year 2000 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, President of Abu Dhabi
University Board of Trustees and Governors and other
distinguished citizens of the United Arab Emirates.
After three
years of planning, the University opened its doors in
September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students
on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Unlike
other colleges and universities in the UAE, Abu Dhabi
University undertook the measures necessary to ensure
that all of the degree programs it would offer had
secured accreditation-eligible status from the Ministry
of Higher Education in advance of any students enrolling
in them.
